Fruit Bats formed in the late 1990s, establishing themselves as one of the premier bands emerge from the indie/folk boom of the early 2000s. The group grew from a four-track recording project of songwriter Eric D. Johnson, who has remained the band's one constant member over the years. Fruit Bats has released a total of eight studio albums, each drawing on influences from 1970's AM radio and The Grateful Dead.
